Sunday, Jan. 31, 2010

We left Merced, CA for Mesa, AZ today after church. We started out about 12:45 p.m. with sunny skies and a temperature of 56 degrees. Frank said "why are we leaving on such a beautiful day." Only problem is that tomorrow will be cloudy and rain for the rest of the week in Merced. It was foggy this morning but it cleared up by 10:00 a.m. Barbara and Dick came over as we were doing our last minute packing to say "Happy Birthday" and wish us good luck. They got me a battery charger for our WII. Just what I was needing. I have to keep buying batteries all the time. Now we won't have to, Yeahhhhhhhh!!! Since we usually use the WII fit on a daily basis and play the WII often, our regular batteries always seem to get low fast.
4:45 p.m. - We pulled into the Orange Grove RV Park in Bakersfield, CA. We have stopped here a few times before and really like it. Frank is feeling a little better, but very tired. Glad were here for the night. We went for a walk around the Park, it is in the middle of an Orange Grove and they say you can pick as many oranges as you want. They even have an "orange picker" by the trees to help you get the oranges from the top of the tree. They are pretty good, but not as big or as tasty as our Navel oranges we have. We don't need any more since we picked all the oranges from our tree before we left. We will drive another short distance tomorrow depending on how Frank feels. We plan on taking about 3 days to get to AZ.
Drove 185 miles today.
(don't laugh, were retired, remember)

Just bidding time to go to AZ

Well guess time for some kind of update. After being sick since Jan. 1, 2010, I can finally say I am back on the road to being myself. Sure am glad both Frank and I are feeling better. Had a nice time yesterday with Frank's cousins, Chuck and Shirley VanDenBurg. They got in on Wed. evening and stayed until Thursday. They have quite a few more stops to make before they get home, which is in Oregon. They have been gone a month and Chuck has to be back for a bone marrow test, since his platelets are down. Both are in good spirts and it sure was nice to get caught up and what has been going on and listening to Chuck and Frank discuss the fun times they had growing up. Had a lot of rain here and yesterday the 60 mph winds blew the big redwood tree on our next door neighbors yard down and it fell across the street and blocked traffic for awhile. It was exciting for awhile. Frank the wood turner that he is, went and asked them if he could have some of the wood for making bowls and pens, etc. they said sure take as much as you want. What a deal!!! hahahahaha. Lyle and Elaine are coming here this weekend and we are looking forward to seeing each other again. We sure have good times together and lots of laughs. Hopefully we can talk them into coming to AZ for a couple of weeks while we are there.
Getting geared up now for our yearly trip to AZ. which we are really looking forward to. Hanging out with Bob and Carol and enjoy all the warmth and SUN AZ has to offer.
