9:30 a.m. - We are leaving to go on our Dune Buggy Ride and this should be exciting.
11:00 a.m. - The Oregon Dunes was very exciting! We rode on the dune buggy with a few other people and we decided to take the "scenic" route instead of the "fast" ride. The weather was beautiful until we got on the Dunes by the beach. There we hit some Fog over the ocean and it made it very chilly! We both just loved it. At the top of some of these Dunes is a big drop off and I did not think we were going to go down them but we did!! So glad we did not do the fast ride, even tho it is on the same path, they go 65 miles per hour down and around the dunes and that is not for me!! I don't need a roller coaster ride. The driver had on a parka and big insulated gloves, winter hat and goggles. We had on a sweatshirt!!
We had some lunch and then walked over to a small Myrtle Wood Shop that was next door to where we were parked. The owner was also a wood turner and had his own shop and store. It turns out they use to live in Fresno, CA (about 1 hour from where we live in CA) and they just bought this place and opened it 6 mos. ago. We bought more wood and had a nice chat with them.
1:15 p.m. - We are on the roade again up the Oregon Coast to Pacific City, OR. This is a very winding, hilly curvy road, but it is absolutly beautiful.
4:15 p.m.- We arrived at the Cape Kiwanda RV Resort and it is a very nice place right on the beach. Weather is very cooperative with sunny skies and a nice temp. Checked in, then went and walked on the beach and sat and "people watched." Some people just don't have good sense. A disabled lady in a mini van (not a 4x4) thought she could follow the 4x4 trucks down the sandy ramp onto the beach and the water's edge--she got stuck in the sand! duh!! Then 4 other vehicles followed her!! What a riot. We ate at the Pelican and the food and decor was very nice. Frank took some beautiful pics, that I will hopefully post later.
